Why a Daughter Needs a Dad…

The book, Why a Daughter Needs a Dad, by Gregory E. Lang, was given to me as a gift after my first daughter was born. There are some great photos of fathers and daughters together and it lists 100 reasons Why A Daughter Needs A Dad. Every time I pick it up I find myself encouraged. It reminds me of how much of an impact I have on my daughters, their world view, their emotional development, their spiritual life and their concept of love. Here are just a few of my favorites from the book.

A Daughter Needs A Dad…

  1. who will influence her life even when he isn’t with her
  2. who will laugh at her at all the right times
  3. to help her take the risks that will build her confidence
  4. to teach her the joy of serving others
  5. so she learns that men can be trustworthy

I find that I benefit from being constantly challenged to be the best parent for my children that I can be. Are there books, people, or experiences that remind you and inspire you to be present and available for your kids? I would love to hear from you about what they are.
