The book, Why a Daughter Needs a Dad, by Gregory E. Lang, was given to me as a gift after my first daughter was born. There are some great photos of fathers and daughters together and it lists 100 reasons Why A Daughter Needs A Dad. Every time I pick it up I find myself encouraged. It reminds me of how much of an impact I have on my daughters, their world view, their emotional development, their spiritual life and their concept of love. Here are just a few of my favorites from the book.
A Daughter Needs A Dad…
- who will influence her life even when he isn’t with her
- who will laugh at her at all the right times
- to help her take the risks that will build her confidence
- to teach her the joy of serving others
- so she learns that men can be trustworthy
I find that I benefit from being constantly challenged to be the best parent for my children that I can be. Are there books, people, or experiences that remind you and inspire you to be present and available for your kids? I would love to hear from you about what they are.
